Sounding #4

THE RIVER CALLS

12.-14. September - Weekend Retreat

An arts-based process workshop exploring sound and poetry.

Special edition: Filzen, platschen, flitschen

The first act in most creation myths from around the world is “the sound”. The sound that gives rise to a word - then to a sentence - then to a story, poem and the song. In between them all we play with our bodies to look, smell, touch, feel, taste and imagine the world as we relate to it.

In the womb of the ephemeral gong, three facilitators will take you on a sensuous journey of exploration. Using the dynamics of a community engaged in the artistic process - doing multi-modal art, we will explore “listening” as a mode of coming into contact with our deeper selves and the other. Creating art in solitude and in communion we try to answer for ourselves the question : what is there to celebrate? In the trying times we find ourselves, the question takes up much more significance for the alternative is to despair.

We will spend a long weekend making art, cooking and dining, walking in nature and doing the art in the wonderful mountainous landscape of Pignia, Graubünden, starting and ending the days with Gong Baths. We will allow ourselves to be touched, to be inspired, to be healed by the vibration. We will collectively hold the space for whatever that needs to emerge to come forth. We will not judge, we will play, we will take risks and, together, we will create the space for beauty to unfold.

You do not need any formal artistic skills to take part, just a desire to explore, the courage to feel and the generosity to share.
